This is a one-of-a-kind in a series Dream Star doll, 8.5 inches tall. I hand painted her face with dreamy grey brown eyes and a happy expression. I decorated her with beads, sequins and a felt heart. Her yarn hair is decorated with a few lovely wavy edged paper beads which are so fun to make. She wears a beaded skirt of flower petals. This is the second in a very short series of Kabuki or Noh Mask dolls. I devised and painted the face myself in the general style of the traditional Japanese theater, rather than representing any particular character from the plays themselves. These are part of my Dream Doll series, visually appealing, to inspire your dreams and conversations. She carries spiral patterns in her hands and feet to remind us to meditate...
Still here in my shop...Her name is "Journey". She began her life as a Byzantine Russian babushka, journeying as a storyteller around medieval Europe picking up a Greek coin, an Indian silver and crystal charm and a Roman Rosary bead. She has added the charms and a quartz crystal spear to her magical rainbow staff.
This doll is so pretty. I made her 8.5 inches tall from some vintage cotton - more from my mother-in-law's collection - in a bright blue and lilac abstract floral print. Her eyes are really vivid. I've been enjoying painting the faces of my latest dolls.
